Medieval Bath Abbey was built on the site of former Norman and Saxon churches. The first English King Edgar was crowned here in 973. Bishop Oliver King’s dream of a new abbey came to fruition in 1499 and is depicted in carvings on the West Front.
Michael Long was born in Bristol in 1940. In 1997 he retired from his post as Head of Art at City of Bristol College to concentrate on painting. His great interest is the English landscape, where he paints in gouache, oils and acrylics to capture its expressive qualities. Michael’s paintings have been exhibited in galleries across the South West of England including the Royal West of England Academy.
